Today Leonay Golf Club sadly announces the passing of Laurie Cupples after a year-long battle with illness.

‍

Laurie was a member of Leonay Golf Club for near on 50 years. He was winner of multiple Club Championships, Matchplay Championships, Foursomes, and Mixed Foursomes Championships including with his wife Lynne. Laurie built an impressive collection of open event trophies throughout the district. Laurie was also a prolific Pennant player representing the club in Nepean and Blue Mountains pennants, metropolitan major pennants and master's pennants. His winning rate in pennants was as impressive as his longevity. Laurie was a member who gave back to the club working on the board of Emu Sports Club in the 1990s dedicating countless hours to working bees and unsanctioned garden maintenance, Laurie was a member who left the course in a better condition than he found it. A well respected member with a hugely impressive golfing resume and a commitment to his family, friends and club, Laurie will be missed.

For those that wish to attend Laurie's Funeral service, the service will be at 12pm, Tuesday 1st Sept. North Chapel, Pinegrove.
