RAY DUKES CUP 2025
Ray Dukes is acknowledged as the finest golfer to ever grace the fairways at Leonay Golf Club and is an instrumental and pivotal figure in Leonay Golf Club’s rich history. In addition to his golfing prowess, Ray also served admirably in many roles, including Secretary Manager and Head Green-keeper.
In honour of Ray’s achievements and his outstanding service to Leonay Golf Club, the highly prized and sought-after Ray Dukes Cup is an Open Stroke event played every year. Many thanks goes to David Burston, a long-time friend of Ray Dukes who very generously provided the sponsorship for this year’s event.
With 156 starters taking the field on Saturday the 16th August, 2025 it is with great pleasure that the Men’s Golf Committee announces the winner of the Annual Ray Dukes Cup for 2025 as Anthony “Ringo” Wright. Congratulations Ringo!
Anthony finished with 71 scratch and was tied alongside Ian Barnes and Adam Brennen which needed to be decided by a “Sudden-Death” playoff over holes 1, 2 and 18 until a winner was found. Ringo came up trumps on the first playoff hole with a par.
On the day the nett winner was Barry Mason with 63 nett with a daily handicap of 19. Many thanks goes to all players who started the day and to the greens-keeping staff who were able to present the course as best as possible.
