NO MORE PREFERRED LIES

NEW TEMPORARY LOCAL RULE

Hello Leonay Golfers,

Please be advised that commencing Saturday 7th Feb, 2026, two items will come into effect.

‍

1.     Play the Ball as it Lies:  Thanks to the great work of the course staff, Leonay is in excellent condition. Therefore it has been decided to remove the allowance of Preferred Lies on Fairways. Of course the exception for bare patches on Fairways is still in place. Needless to say, CARRY SAND with you and fill your divots. If you don't want to play out of a divot, then make sure there are no divots to play out of.

2.     Temporary Local Rule - Full Free Relief from Grid Mesh Lawn Protection:  If your ball is on, or your stance or intended swing is interfered with by the recently installed grid mesh lawn protection found in various places around the course, under R&A Rules of Golf 16.1 pertaining to Abnormal Course Conditions (including Immovable Obstructions), you are entitled to 1 club length’s full relief from the reference point, no nearer to the hole.  This Temporary Local Rule will be in place until further notice.
