Masters Pennants at Richmond
On Sunday 2nd June, the Leonay Team visited Richmond at their home course.
It was hard going for the lads after all the heavy rain that the Richmond course sustained through Saturday and overnight. You had to be a duck (or a local) to survive those conditions. Regardless, the boys put up a great fight on the day to only go down 5½ to 2½.
Team Leonay Masters Pennants are trying to emulate the Majors Pennant 2024 winning team. At the halfway point in the competition, they lead the section by half a match-point with 3 games to go; 2 at home and 1 away. The camaraderie within the team is indicative of the spirit of the team. The remaining matches are: next Sunday 9th June at home against Richmond, the 14th June at home against Kareela and the next away and final preliminary round is the 23rd June at home also against Kareela.
The 2024 Team is Stu Meyers (C), Lauire Cupples, Ian Barnes, Dean Watson, Peter Homan, Peter Kitley, Mat Brennen, Steve Thums, David Stevenson.
The Managers are Bob Chruszcz, Adam Brennen.
