Masters Pennants 2026 Report

Master Pennant Report - 2026

In the 2026 season, the Leonay Masters Pennant team again performed to their best ability with two wins, two draws and two losses.

They started the season in a blaze of glory but unfortunately faded a bit towards the end.  Throughout the series, the team played in a manner which the team enjoyed and always competed.  There were many notable performances: be it wrong club selection, trying to smash a club house window,establishing  a winning start on the 1st hole then losing the remainder, having the “shanks”, trying to rescue a shot against a wall then going OOB.  Many incidents occurred which, as the saying goes, what happens on the course gets fined in the club house.

The Master’s man of the season “Les Knox Trophy” points-score winner was run on a system of matches won, lost, at home and away on individual scores.  The winner in 2026 with total of 10 points is Stu Meyers playing undefeated, closely followed in 2nd by Anthony “Ringo” Wright.  A special mention goes to our new recruit Jim “Joe” Borg fitting well into the scheme of pennant play.

The team in 2026 was;
Stu Meyers (C), Tony Wright, Mat Brennan, Jim Borg, Pete Kitley, Dave Stevenson, Dean Watson, Steve Thums, Pete Homan, Wayne Worthy and Tim Cook. Managerial duties went to Bob Chruszcz. Final results of the lads' season can be found here (Division 3, Section 1). A special thanks to all the supporters, caddies and the catering duo of John Malvern and Sue Cain, Nepean Valley Pure Water and Ron Grandemange for assisting to organise the supply of bottled water.To all, a most memorable season was had in 2026.

Manager,
Bob Chruszcz
