MAJOR PENNANTS 2026
MANAGERS REPORT
The 2026 was an interesting season for the Leonay team members. Originally consisting of 5 teams with 2 team withdrawals, a 3 team competition prevailed with the top 2 qualifying for the final to be played at NSW G.C.
The team consisted of Adam Brennen (Capt.),Cal Curry, Pete Homan, Mick Barton, Zac Lange, Matt Brennan, Jake Thompson, Anthony (Ringo) Wright and Gary Oxford. The combined effort of the team was an indication of spirit of the team's determination to win, having accumulated enough points to play the final at NSW G.C. with qualifying for an upgrade to Div.4 next year.
The team on the day of the final comprised of Adam, Cal, Pete, Zac, Ringo, Mick, and Gary with the team going down 4½ to 2½ against Bardwell Valley and many matches went down to the wire.
During the season many individual performances, like Zac's long putt on the 18th to win against Macarthur Grange at home and an away win against Macarthur Grange with player's wins to Cal, Jake, Pete and Adam on the last hole to win 4/3. Many outstanding individual performances with Pete Homan being awarded the Major A grade winner over the 2026 season. Playing at number 7 Pete provided the springboard with consistent performance.
A quote from a team player:- "Presenting Leonay at NSW GC is a highlight for me and it should be to all. A small club played at one the worlds best courses today. It is a different world."
Thanks to all the players ,caddies , Leonay supporters, chefs Bill and John and Leonay GC and their continual support of Pennant teams.
